It has been quite a while since I've run a Power Commander tuner on a bike, but from what I remember, they had a pretty broad fuel map database on their website, for those who don't wish to have their bike dyno tuned. It's worth a try before spending your money on a dyno, although a good dyno tune will yield the best results. Click on the link below and go to map search, enter the make, model and year for your bike, find the map that closely matches your modifications, download it, install it in your PCV and give it a try.

Welcome to the fun and yes shoot for the 1000 miles before the Dyno to make sure the engine is broke in if you go that route.

Get a ThunderMax Auto ECM tuner. You will never have to flash or dyno your bike again. Yea it cost 900 bucks..but your going to spend that on future flashes and dyno tunning....I have had mine for 8 months and it woke the bike up and made it scream...I also added V&H exhaust with D&D headers...deep low rumble

They run the bike HARD when doing a dyno tune, so you would likely be best served by completing your engine break-in first (500 miles). Are you not happy with the Power Commander? You did try to map your bike with the appropriate map already, right? If the bike is running well with it, I don't know why you'd want to dump the cash on a dyno tune. It's going to run several hundred dollars here in SoCal.

As for what the dealer said about the ECM mapping, it would be best to have the bike mapped as close to optimal as possible when taking it to get dyno'ed (in your case a stage-1 map). However, you already have a Power Commander V! You can do your stage-1 ECM remap with that and save from having to give the dealer any additional money!

I really don't think I've ever come across a dealer charging for a remap. It certainly wouldn't take them- what 2 1/2 hours to do the remap?
I agree with others, get the breakin period done before the dyno- I think it might also be a good idea to get your first oil change done before the dyno, too.
Sorry- can't recommend any tuners in your AO.
