bad wind noise on the H-D Boom Audio 20S EVO BT headset

so having discovered that the overpriced H-D version and the SENA 20S EVO all play nicely together ...we went for a ride

at speed, the wind noise on the H-D mic is so bad, I was told numerous times to turn it off! (not a bad thing when you are riding with two women who where waffeling for England!)

So further investigation has suggested disabling the VOX settings (now done)

my personal suspicion is that the boom mic is not in front of my mouth far enough... and because of the slight angle, the wind is striking my face and then into the microphone.

Anyone know if you can get LONGER booms for an open face lid? (I have a fairly large melon and as such the mic doesn't quite make the ideal location square across the lips, out of the wind)

Why does the boom mic have a hole on BOTH sides? inner is obviously the pickup mic for talking... but the front facing hole? (could I cover it with tape?)

any tips for cutting down on the noise appreciated....
at slow speeds it was great, yet SENA to SENA, well lets just say they didn't stop talking! (and my lady wears an open face lid also)

*ordered a Hopnel Wind Sock Protective Cover (vinyl draw-string fingerbob) that will cover the sponge boom cover and hopefully cut down on the noise some more
