My First Video Tail of the dragon

Heading North to Kingsport TN with 2 friends, starting the 7th of October and we plan on cruising most of these rides on the way back. I'm kind of excited but not a curvy fan. We have alot of straight roads here in florida. So am a bit nervous about it. Any tips for riding the curves???
Learn to countersteer. It will keep you from going off the curves. Practice in a large empty parking lot to get the hang of it.

Here is a video that does a decent job at explaining and demonstrating.

Thanks for the tips! The butt cheek thing is funny! But true.. Warm clothes, watch out for crotch rockets. I have yet to go so low where I scrape anything? I'm still trying to take it all in, about a week away.

DSPLCD, to be honest, I'd stay away from the Dragon, sounds like you're not comfortable yet in the curves... and brother... this AIN'T the ride for you if you're not ! I saw two wrecks this past weekend. Its just too EASY to go outside your lane and into the other! And you CAN'T cross over here. waaay too crowded.
CHEROHALA Skyway sounds like your ride. I love it, 52 miles of sweeping beautiful turns you can control and practice your technique.. Temp changes 20 degrees from top to bottom.

I agree completely. TOD is a fun road but it's just too crowded and has pretty much been taken over by the sport bike/extreme speed riders.
I went up there last year with only a year/6k miles on my riding clock.
I didn't have any problems with the turns but I was very cautious and was constantly forced outside my comfort zone by much quicker impatient riders. It was the longest 11 miles of my life and I was literally exhausted from stressing when I finished. I pulled off and talked to a few other riders. They were all long time riders and felt the same way. Swing over to Cherehala they said. You will have a much more enjoyable time and the ride is extremely challenging to all ride styles. I did just that and ended up spending the day there. I enjoyed it completely. Moonshiner 28 is a good road as well.

Have a good time man. Watch for leaves in the road. They mostly stay wet in the high elevations and get worse as fall progresses. I love that area of the Appalachians and get up from Winter Park as often as I can

Wet leaves on pavement to motorcycles are like banana peels. Be careful!
