Race tunner SE

Made the mistake of buying a SE race tunner only to find out 2 weeks later that Harley stopped selling them because of epa law. Now if my bike needs to get reprogramed I'm sol.Is Harley buying them back or is there anyway around the tunner so I can still use it?

You can still use it. Just download the software. You may want to find someone with a pre-EPA version of the software.

How are you SOL? I have a SE race tuner and changed out to a better slip on exhaust after that required a re-tune after the EPA debacle. I have had no issues with the dealership re-tune. If the dealership cant or wont re-tune, it shouldn't be a problem going to another shop to have it tuned.

That's great.The dealership told me that when you buy the tuner they have to send Harley the vin number on the bike to get the down load. After the epa crap they said that Harley would no longer send any new software down loads to my vin number that would allow them to tune it.What dealer did yours? I would like to find out what is going on.

Just enter the serial number on the tuner (1111111111 works).

Just don't allow any updates to it , the software that is , best to use it off line.

Thanks for your input. Kinda makes sense the update could limit some of the function's of the tunner.

I just looked at the latest version of the Super Tuner software. There do not appear to be any new limitations and a bunch of new tuning files are available. Harley has 325,000 of these in the field. They had to stop selling them but they are still supporting the installed base. Unsold tuners were recalled from dealers. No recalls from owners.

Harley agreed to enforce their policy to terminate the warranty on any bikes tuned with the Super Tuner. Harley never conceded to any wrong doing in the settlement with the EPA.

New Super Tuners are selling for $750 on Amazon.

The full range of tuning for the SERT is no longer available for the dealers to access from there dyno PC on the MoCo network is what my dealer tech told me.

Effectively they have no more tuning ability than the pro street tuner does, so yes they will support them but not with non compliant settings.

That may be true for H-D dealers, but not for Pro Super Tuner owners. Here is the AFR table from the original tune for my bike using the latest software revision. Next to it I have changed all the closed-loop AFR's to non-compliant open loop values that are much richer. Just for a weekend of closed course racing of course.

Thats good news then , people may wana beware of what there looking at if they take there race tuner equipped bike to the dealer for a dyno tune , or ask there dealer specifically about it.

Me thinks Many will jump ship to FP3 /TT/PV etc.

It baffles me to think Harley bets typical customers will pay $300 for the tuner and then another $400 for the hardware/software to manually tune their limited features tuner!

It's also funny that all the sudden you can't get a dealer ECM flash for stage1 for $150 now either , only the $300 tuner.
