Rattle

I am getting a metallic rattle every time I accelerate. Dealer said my shift linkage was loose and tightened it up. It did not fix the problem. The rattle sounds like it is coming from the lower portion of the fairing. No performance issues that I can tell. Just an annoying rattle.

I had an annoying rattle that I searched high and low for about 6 months only to determine that it was the spacer between the inner shift linkage and the shift lever. Not sure if this could be the source of your problem but it's something to check none the less.

Hope this helps!

Sounds stupid, but check your gas lid. The way the noise echoed I thought it was something lower on my bike to later realize the hook that holds it down was slightly twisted causing a rattle right in front of me that I couldn't place.

I had the same problem when I accelerated. The dealer took it for a ride on my 1K service and said he did not hear it. Sure enough on the ride home I heard the rattle again. The next day I crawled over and under my bike and tightened EVERY bolt holding on the heat shields. The problem is solved and has remained quiet since then. Someone on this site suggested it may be the problem. To whoever it was, I say thank you. Give it a try NOLA, but be sure you find every bolt. They hide from you.

Have the same issue now and then, like omaharider it turned out to be the gas compartment lid. In my case it usually just isn't all the way closed and pushing down on it firmly makes the rattling stop.

Had/have the same issue, sounded like a piece of metal rattling in the right handlebar or something. When I took it in and asked them to check, the dealer stated it was the gas lid, or push button and was fixed... I still notice the rattle, and now have new handlebars. I suppose it could be the gas lid again, just haven't messed with it lately.
