Anyone have any opinions or installed the Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather type air cleaners? I love the look but I have some concerns about performance and leg/knee clearance.

The thing that turned me off, is I believe you can only clean it like 3 or 4 times, and then you have to replace it. No thanks

I spoke to a rep from Arlen Ness at bike week and he said that as long as the element was synthetic it was ok and you did not have to worry about water or cleaning. BUT he also said you would gain more power with the round style element.

You either need a washable filter, or you need a standard replaceable filter. You can't just leave either alone, or they'll get dirty. What I'm saying, is that the SE is supposedly washable, but you can only do that several times before you have to replace it. K&N's, for example, are washable for the life of the bike

I installed it on my 2017 street glide and don't have any issues with it hitting my leg and it looks awesome

Guys - I have the SE round air cleaner - yes it protrudes a little but I've gotten used to it - and I a do love the looks of it. I've had this air cleaner on my street glide for 10k plus miles. I've cleaned and oiled it half dozen times or more with the K&N filter wash/clean soap and oil kit. I have not seen any deterioration of the element and to be honest the element looks to be made off the same woven Cotten type material (compressed between a screen on both sides) that an actual K&N filter is made of. I have not seen anything stating the SE element is not a permanent washable filter.
Where is the info stating this is a throw away after X washes or X miles etc?
