due to noise coming from Primary, changed out inner primary bearing, (see pitting on attachment). Bearing had slight pitting, race was bad pitting. Bike well maintained using (SYN-3) since bike was new. Wanted to repair before riding season. anyone else had this issues, have heard of 3 in this area in the past 2 weeks. just food for thought and conversation. thanks for reading.inner primary bearing.jpg

I’m getting ready to replace my bearing as my primary is off anyway. I’m just waiting on the Jims tool (729) to do it. Is it difficult?

hate to say it, but my brother did it for me, he has the puller to do it and does HD work at his house for a living. He did his and removed the noise so mine was next. Was not making a lot of noise but you could hear it. Next is my compensator, he said it was showing wear. but riding it for the season and do that next winter, hopefully can get through riding season with no more issues,, "fingers crossed".. thanks for reading!

My removal/installation kit should be at home waiting for me today. I just now thought to ask if you or anyone else may know of an upgraded bearing being available. This is certainly the time to do it.

Yegg, went back with OEM part, was told it was a Timken bearing and know that is A pretty good bearing and was also up against the clock,, brother kicks me off the lift when he has good paying customers,, LOL,, so he did mine quick to make place for 2 bikes he had waiting. He said it was not a big job, but he had already done it before to his Dyna /switchback. (always easier the 2nd time around),good luck, work safe!

I used Jims 729 tool and it popped right out. The directions are terrible and it took me longer to figure out how to set up the tool than use it. Of course as soon as I did it I realized I forgot to but the replacement bearing the other day so I will have to wait until I swing by the store again. Oh well. Time to clean more parts in the meantime I guess.
