Hello, I am new to this site and have a couple questions. I am new to the Harley family and just purchase my first street glide. I want to lower the driver floor board for more comfort. I am a bigger guy and not very flexible so I need to make some adjustments so my knees are not in my chest when trying to use my pedals and shifting. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can accomplish this or if it can be done?

It can be done. I recommend going to the dealer and someone can fit you to the bike.

Get yourself a seat that moves you back and up a little. That will help the most and it will be easier on the wallet too.

What kind of seat and does it come with a passenger seat as well?

Most HD dealerships will let you demo all of their seats to see what works for you. If you try this and still don't find a seat that you like, you can have your stock seat reworked at Mean City Cycles. They've done my stock seat and my Sundowner and their workmanship and customer service are top notch. www.meancitycycles.com

Ok, good to know. I'll try and figure it out. Thanks for the info.

I'm not a big guy at 5'8', that's an interesting problem, but sure seems fixable. I totally concur, go to the dealer and get fitted. I'm a big fan of Mustang Saddles and have had one on every one of my bikes. They are great to deal with and may have something for you. Their selection is pretty big. Good luck and congrats on your purchase.

Thank you! Now that I have it I want to add to it and make it mine. Expensive but worth it.

If I went to my dealer as asked to them to fit the bit to me, they would laugh me off the lot. On the off chance they did do it, it would cost a fortune.

There are two things you can do.

(1) Buy a long legs seat. Mustang, Saddlemen, LePera...probably every seat manufacturer has them.

(2) Replace the brake and shift levers with extended versions from SoftBrake.

You might only need one. The combination will stretch you right out. If you're good with the handlebar position, I'd start with the brake and shift levers. If you feel like you're too close to the handlebars, I'd start with the seat.

The seat will push you further back and possibly a little higher on the bike increasing your reach to the handlebars. The brake and shift levers just add legroom.

Perfect. I'll look into doing that. It makes the most sense. Thanks RoadWarrior
