Ok, so recently I started having pain in my left side lower back. The Dr. says to stop riding and let it heal. So what are the things that others do to relieve the discomfort pain. I don't use pain pills because I can't. Well most of them, due to health issues.

I do have a back brace and it works well.

For me the backrest made a huge difference.

I tried the backrest but it sat way too high to suit me.

I have the adjustable backrest and you can adjust it forward and back and inside the cushion you can adjust it for height up and down. Can't ride without mine because it just doesn't feel right unless the wife is behind me which is not very often.

You do not say that your back pain is equated to riding your motorcycle.
If you are having back issues as a result of improper seating position while riding perhaps a back rest or rebuilt or new seat would help.
If you are having back issues that are not motorcycle related but are exasperated by riding your scooter then you might consider a visit to the Chiropractor and the purchase of a new mattress.

Good Luck,

I had the same problem with the HD backrest. We went with a LePera seat with backrest and it sits muck lower. Hits me in the lumbar area right were a backrest should. I use it when solo, but it crowds the wife to much when 2 up.

+1 on adjustable backrest, was able to do 890 miles in one day with it, without my back hurts after 2-300.

Rider backrest for sure... and if you have stock bars, ditch em and get up to like 12-14" bars.... you won't be slouched over... I am 5'7" and have 12" Yaffe Monkeys on my 14SGS and have 14" Yaffe Monkeys on order for my 15RGS.

Here is a reference pic of me for riding position ....

Had the same issues with back pain. Had my stock seat redone to fit me and invested in a TENs unit (electrical stimulation) similar to what a Chiropractor uses. If it is sever pain, then you might ask a Chiropractor for the spinal decompression treatment (stretches your spine - painless). Worked for me and I'm pain free. I do use the TENs unit on occasion. BTW - you can get a decent TENs unit through Groupon for cheap. Buy a cheap one ($10-20) and see if it helps. If it does, get a good one.

Good luck and be well.

I bought an inversion table , highly recommended by my chiropractor, i got one on sale for 100 bucks, i use it year round when needed but it sounds like you might benefit using it daily, since my purchase i haven't been back to see the chiropractor. a good seat , back rest and maybe different bars will also help .

I agree with buying a new mattress. It helped me a great deal.
