OK, right up front......I know this is a very subjective topic.

But here goes....

I am looking into adding a driver backrest to my 2015 SGS. I'm about 6' tall and looking for suggestions on what is being used and why. Really only interested in adjustable backrests, not a fixed type backrest. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have the adjustable back rest from Harley and only ride without it if I have a passenger. I'm 6"1 and have a long torso the extra support from the back rest really helps on long rides.

I have the adjustable backrest on my heated seat. I'm 6"2. After 1000 km in 3 days still feeling great and no sore back! Go for it. You won't be disappointed.

I use mine all the time maybe not on short rides, but always on long ones and I'm only 5'8'' get it you won't regret it.

I have the adjustable backrest also and highly recommend it. The only downside I can think of is the mounting bracket release lever location. Mine mounted between the frame and rear cylinder on left side. I didn't like the look of the bracket, so I installed mid-frame air defectors. They hide the bracket and gave me a place to install my communication port. Happy camper now!

I love the backrest as well for long hauls. Simple to take off when you arrive at your destination. I see no negatives.

Just installed the adjustable last weekend short runs to work and back and errands and it feels great it fells good when I stretch out. The end of the month I'm taking a trip to the southwest corner of Colorado hoping it will make the longs days feel better.

Just took my H-D adjustable backrest on a 2000-mile ride. I wish it were a bit shorter, or more padded, or both. Still helped a lot, tho.

I went for luxury and chose the solo mount tour pack. Throw my legs up on top of the crash bar, just like leaning back into a lazy boy. Almost fall asleep. But that's what cruise and navigation are for I guess. Autopilot. Lol

I cut 2" off mine which makes it sit flush with top of seat and still fully adjustable upward.

Skeeter- next time the opportunity arises, send a pic of it showing the cut. I'm thinking about getting the adjustable one as I felt the non-adjustable one was too high to suit me.

1) Cut 2 welds attaching the adjustment with cutoff blade
2) Remove 2" from top of long bar
3) Weld together
4) Paint or touch-up welded area
5) Ride on!

Sure, send it!
Not great at welding, but I can stick a couple pieces together and a little grinder work makes it look better. lol

Installed an adjustable Kuryaken driver backrest early in Sept this year. I don't know how I ever lived without it. Some of the best money I've ever spent on an accessory!

Part # and photo?

The adjustable H.D. backrest came with my bike but I've never really tried it out. After reading this i might just have to try it.

This is what was done to the adjustable backrest on my 2014 SGS. Extended radius of bend downward and cut and welded the post. Moved backrest pad down two inches and back two inches. It's more comfortable for me.
