Just wanted to comment on the quality of this product! I bought my bike last month and it already had one installed. I'm assuming that the previous owner purchased it for the $160 that Harley charges for it. Works great when you can actually see the display. Unfortunately it gets condensation in it and becomes unreadable! Looked up some info on this issue and apparently it is a VERY common problem! Just wanted to give people a heads up if it's something you're considering for purchase. I'm pissed off about it and I didn't even make the original purchase!

I bought one with my bike in September 2013, it filled up with condensation after I had washed the bike. Last October my Harley dealer replaced it with a new one. The new one was working fine until I was in Baker City, OR two weeks ago & it rained over 2" one night. Now it is filled with condensation. I just talked to my Harley Dealer yesterday & he is getting me another new on. They have a one year warranty but if it was purchased with the bike it has a two year warranty.
I like the fact that I can check oil level without removing the dipstick but my history with them is that they don't last if you get your bike wet.
Maybe I need to dry clean my bike from now on & not ride if it's raining.

These things are not sealed. You can open it up to dry it out (see included instructions for rotating the angle of the display). Put in the stock dipstick when you wash the bike.
Yes, it's a bit lame but with some care mine works great.

That's what I've been doing most of the time. I use a product at work that's called spray shine and its basically a waterless wash product. I did actually wash it a couple of weeks ago but I really didn't soak anything too much. Just noticed it the other day and I can't read any of the display with the condensation in it. It's a great concept and when I could read it, it was fantastic! Just pretty much worthless if I can't see the thing! Glad I didn't pay the money for it or I'd be really upset!

Love my Streetglide!

Unfortunately I don't have the stock one. The LCD one was in the bike when I bought it. I was looking at the instructions and need to open it up like you're suggesting and get it to dry out. I may need to just purchase a stock one for the purpose of washing it, but I really wish it just wasn't an issue at all!

Yes you can open it up & rotate the display, but that doesn't allow you to clean the water out, it is fastened into the head.
As for taking it out when you wash your bike, what do you do if it rains?
