Is anyone running Mid-Frame Air Deflectors Part Number 58002-09A?
Do they really make a difference?

I have them and feel they help. I painted them to match so they blend in a bit better too.

Thanks, easy with the black! I like the cosmic blue, I saw it at a different dealer after I got mine. I'm sure you could get them done by a good painter. A guy at work has the pearl grey and they look nice too. It may cost more to paint than the parts themselves though!

Yes I think it's a 3 stage paint.

Money spent on mid frame air deflectors would be better spent on an after market tuner instead. Upon riding my Dyna, I immediately noticed the heat coming off the engine, and I installed the Harley mid frame deflectors. They do work to keep it cooler, somewhat. However, I also used a Vance & Hines FP3 to tune the map, and the heat dropped even more. Now, with my street glide I just used the FP3, and I have no issues with heat. Mid frame air deflectors treat the symptoms, a better tune treats the disease- these bikes come from the factory horribly tuned to meet the clean air standards.

So do these actually push air into the engine forcing the heat down or does it just " shield" the rider?
I think it does most to shield the rider during stops or slow riding.
I have done the popular things to reduce heat, these are just one part of the fix for me.

Thanks for all the replies.
Bike's already been tuned and I don't get a lot of heat but I do feel it a bit when stuck in traffic. Went to Harley and bought a pair. I will install them tomorrow and see how they do.

Look at thefactorymatch.com , you can order them painted. That's what I plan on doing.

I don't know- I've had them since I bought the bike. I know that I have never had an issue with my legs getting overheated from the motor.

Well I gave them a call and they don't offer it in Cosmic Blue Pearl? Bummer!
I'm thinking about panting it hi-gloss black to match the inside of the fairing. It should look better than the matte black.

You can ask your dealer who paints for them and see if they will do it. Gloss black will match the frame too!

Yes. Kind of a bitch to get my hands in there to tighten the screws. The right side (sitting on bike) deflector touches the top of the head just a bit but haven't seen any issues yet.
