Seat Mod @ Mean City Cycles

I did a couple long trips this summer and during one I decided I wanted a new seat due tho the fact that our stock seats suck if you intend top spend more than an hour and a half on them in one sit. Demoed the seats at the dealership, not impressed and while most aftermarket seats are stylish, in my experience, they sacrifice comfort for that sleek, stylish look. I found a place called Mean City Cycles that does seat mods. They use gel pads and memory foam, reshape the seat pan, ect. They say some of their mods can move the rider down as much as 2-3 inches and back as much as 2-3 inches. I just scheduled a memory foam modification that will move me back and down giving the feeling of being in the bike rather than on it. They ask you about your weight, height, and inseam, what modifications you'd like then schedule you. Everything's done on a tight schedule so the turn around is only a couple days. Anyway, has anybody else had this done? These guys get great reviews so I'm really looking forward to seeing their work.

There are several reviews in the threads about Mean city cycles. From what I have read they do really good work. Search the threads on here and I'm sure a couple will pop up.

I had my seat done by Mean City Cycles back in august and I love it,
They dropped me a couple inches, did the memory foam, nd narrowed the seat and it made a world of difference in how I feel on the bike.
Call them and they will schedule the work and have it back to you quick

It's already on it's way, works being done on Tuesday. I'm having the memory foam put in as well and I asked them to move me as far back as they could and drop me down as well. Getting a little custom cover work done as well. Can't wait to get it back.

Got it back and man am I happy. The memory foam feels a lot better than the stock seat foam and it isn't even broke in yet. They moved me back probably close to two inches and down an inch or so and they even color matched the thread for the flame job with my existing saddle bag covers and pin striping. If you're thinking about dumping a bunch of money into a new seat, I recommend looking into this as an additional option. Great work from these guys, awesome customer service and a super fast turn around........although the same can't be said for UPS. They certainly took their time getting it back to me. lol 59537285130__DB51C3A7-EAE9-4B2A-B6AD-6705618DFFFE.jpg

Yep.
I'll never buy another aftermarket seat again. My wife has a '16 SGS so when she sat on mine she pretty much immediately decided she needed hers reworked as well. We looked at the website and talked about what mods she would like to have done and planned to get it done this Spring. Hers is sitting in a box in the garage right now waiting to be shipped out tomorrow but her bike's under a cover so you can't really tell the seat's not on it. I plan to give it back to her on Christmas. Good stuff.

Got mine booked for March 10. Double Decker memory foam for me and single wide for the wife.

Enjoy.
I really can't say enough good things about these guys. My wife and I both love our seats. Now if the snow will just melt.......

Sent mine in last Wednesday. Scheduled for March 11.....can't wait to get it back and ride it! Hoping it is as good as everyone says it is.....

Nice! They used to be a sponsor here. Guess I need to check with them again.

Got my seat back yesterday..... you can see it is a bit lower, and there is an "extra" slot in the bottom of the seat. Presumably to allow the seat cover to be pulled taut and keep the cover wrinkle free. Now I just gotta get the bike out of storage and give this a try! I will post up what I think after the first ride...but they say it will take some miles to fully break in.

Well first ride home was ok.... I can sit on the bike flat foot with a slight bend in my knees. The seat feels a bit "flatter" and it almost seems like I can feel the seat base. To be fair, I need to get some miles on it an see how it works. I would suggest anyone to contact MCC if they have seat questions issues. The work appears to be very good, Plenty of staples holding seat cover on and no wrinkles I give them an A+ on appearance!

I am in Michigan and they did both my wife's 2020 SG and my 2020 SGS in February. Live in Macomb have managed to get in a few hundred miles on each and AWESOME!! All I can say great work and great feel. They do excellent work,

Well this sucks. Seat was completed March 10. As I am in Canada I decided to have it shipped to my buddies place in Montana. Figure I could go for a visit and pick it up. Well it arrived at his place on the 16th and planned to go this past weekend. But the Canada/USA border is now closed to all travellers. So I have to wait now for him to hopefully send it up to me or I wait till border opens. Still have a month left before riding really begins here. Maybe later if this Covid 19 does’t go away. Be safe out there so we all can enjoy our rides.

Ouch!
Sorry to hear that.

How much moolah did they charge? I am thinking of using them to do mine as well. Appreciate the info if you are comfortable giving it
