So I get a video from Law Abiding Biker. Very good site that has in depth how to's for us that like to wrench it. The video is about all HDs from 2014 and up and how many have the shifter shaft strip out. And as we all know, it happens when you're on a long trip, usually in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway, so they replace the part cause the bike they were working on did in fact have a stripped out shaft. But they replace the part with another one from Harley Davidson. Why use a part from HD when the HD parts are failing?????

Anyone have aftermarket parts to recommend?

There is another company out there that makes them in a harder material but for the life of me can't remember their name. Do a search on google and it may show up.

Most of the issue comes from the fact that they use a threaded bolt. The threads wear with the movement against the shaft allowing it to slide off without ever loosening. I have verified this on several bikes. I just replaced mine on my last 2 SG's with a shoulder bolt from Ace. no issues.
