If anything it will help SG sales. This has no rear pegs or seating, no infotainment / radio and is a feeble attempt to get a new entry price point for touring bikes. Problem is for just $2k more you can get a SG standard with those features. It could help dealers upsell to a SG though.

I was just about to post the same link.
I don’t get it though- why offer the electraglide standard and a Streetglide? I guess this gives H-D opportunity to sell a touring bike in that price window, and continue to inch up the streetglide price.

Looks like a standard Police Special with a different seat.
If you are planning on a lot of mods it might be a good platform to start with as opposed to tearing down a Streetglide.

This could help the guy that can't afford the street glide but should have been priced about 16,000. It will cost at least 4,000 to dress it up to a street glide. The guy who plans on building a bike this gives them a blank canvas to start with. I can see a lot of big wheel baggers in the future off this platform.

Kinda like a Roadking with a batwing instead of a tombstone...
I see a market, but yeah $16k would sell them a lot faster...

It appears they have just reverted again. Harley used to do the same thing years ago when they had the classic, ultra classic, and the road glide baggers. It has the same features it used too. Then they released the street glide and the classic went away.

Yep my first SG was a 2005 EG Standard. Added all the parts from the 2005 catalogue. HD fielded the 2006 SG after they saw my "Cheri Noir". If only I had known!

I agree 100%. This is exactly what I'd buy if I were starting today. This is a lot like my FLHT Standard back in 1997, but with a solo seat. I like the Batwing, always have. On my 2016 SG I practically never listen to music and wouldn't miss it, the Nav system is crap, changed the seat about five days after I bought it, changed the wheels to Impellers off a Limited because it handles better at high speed, installed Ohlins front cartridges and rear shocks, replaced the cams, pushrods, installed S&S 110 kit, Dan Vance cylinder heads, ThunderMax tuner, exhaust system, handlebars, rearview mirrors... hell, there is hardly a stock part left on my bike. I should have bought a frame and built it from the ground up. Every $1000 saved off a loaded bike is money to use buying the parts the Motor Company should have installed in the first place. I'll give them credit for doing one thing right from the factory, the brakes on my 2016 are the best the factory has ever produced in the 35 years I've been riding them.

With MSRP of $19k, if you can get a street price lower than that in a year or so then you could have an excellent bike setup the way it should be for $25k. That would be cool.

They should have put a door on that radio hole. Someone at work already picked one up and it's kinda funny seeing the cavern in the dash. I also need to look at those ugly Bag-mounted after thoughts. If theyre just reflectors (likely, since it has amber signals) then that's horrible! I wonder if the stick-on run/turn/brake lights will fit with those in place.

I'm jealous of the price. My first Harley was a $17k Switchback. This has more storage, better wind protection and potentially more room for improvements! I'll be showing my friend this bike as he wants a street glide and this might help him bite. Hell I'll even give him a stock street glide seat and swap shocks (assuming it comes with 13") to help him pull the trigger

Watch what happens next. No more standard Street Glide. Just an Electra Glide Standard and a Streetglide Special.

For those of us that don’t need the rear seat and don’t want the Boom radio, that will be the choice deal. I plan on getting something but don’t want to pay for the crappy radio so I’ll put something like the Sony radio in.

Harley has probably finally figured out that baggers are popular, and that perhaps instead of making yet another flavor of the Sportster and marketing that hell out of it, they should have an entry level bagger
