Will be heading to Tennessee this weekend. Get to experience the mountain riding for first time. Planned on riding up but all my camp gear won't fit so towing. So looking forward to cooler weather and no talk of hurricanes

Check in with Smoky Mountain H-D in Maryville. They have a group ride every Tuesday to explore the area around TN. They meet up at 9am and usually return between 5-6pm. You can learn a bit of history and ride some very nice roads.

My youngest daughter lives in Pigeon Forge. You'll LOVE it this time of year! Beautiful!

It's beautiful up there, sometimes very crowded. We seen a few Bear cubs last year driving around the loop. Gatlinburg , pigeon forge is our vacation destination. Enjoy be safe

We just came back from the Smokies yesterday. It was my first time and it didn't disappoint. Stayed in a cabin between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Traffic wasn't bad at all. Rode every route recommended by others here and another forum. While I loved the twists and turns on the Dragon, Cherohala Parkway and Moonshiner 28 were the most fun to ride. Clingmans Dome is a must see. We did the loop through Cades Cove but it was more for the wife to see some wild life. Leaves are already starting to change and the views are spectacular! Be cautious of bear and elk. We had a close call with an elk on Cherohala. Hope you enjoy as much as we did.

I too love the Cherohola Skyway more than the Dragon. We have a group on this forum heading up there next Sept.
Did you get a chance to head over to Maggie Valley and the Wheels thru Time museum?

I agree Mojo. Wife and I just rode it yesterday. Had lunch in Robinsville then rode back. Less traffic if you can ride it during the week.
We live about an hour away. maybe we can meet up next Sept. when you all come up.

Sounds like a plan!

Wheels through Time was on my list but they were closed on Wednesday when we went into Maggie Valley. This being my first time to the area and such nice weather, I was torn about spending time at the museum when we could be riding. We will be back and I will have another chance. The positive that came out of the ride was that we took the Blue Ridge Parkway back to 441. Another amazing winding road with very scenic views and cool tunnels.

The ride to Cades Cove is nice but, beware if someone sees a Bear you may be sitting in traffic for 20 or 30 minutes. The next couple of weeks is the ideal time to go, especially if UT is having a game that Saturday theres less traffic and the leaves are changing.
The Cherohala Skyway, Robbinsville, Dragon and Foothills Parkway loop is worth spending a Saturday on. It will take you about 5 hours or so, and that includes stopping at some of the biker destinations. From Knoxville the whole ride was about 180 miles. If you want do this ride and you are not a local, stay in West Knoxville. From there you can choose to go in the Cherohala by driving to Sweet Water via interstate or highway 411 to highway 68. there isnt a gas station for about 40 miles on the Cherehola, I reccomend you top off at Wegiels in Sweet Water, they have 100%.
