HOG discount

Hello Street gliders.
We have just been in formed by our dealership that the 10% discount given when you show your HOG international card has been dropped.

Is this World Wide or just our stealership trying to make more money?

I have 1 local dealer that use to, 1 that I have not asked because I don't really buy from them and 1 that does offer it. Obviously I shop at the deal that does offer the discount unless buying online.

Wasn't that one of the major selling points on the HOG memberships?

That's exactly what I am thinking......I asked local stealership if there is a discount for being a HOG member and found out no such thing. So I asked them why bother with joining people to HOG if there is nothing they can offer.....and they just laugh.....I am not renewing my membership with HOG....totally useless to me!

Keeping the patch though.....LOL!

Thanks all for your replies.
Up until last week the dealership used to give 10% for parts and clothing, when you presented your HOG card.
As has been said in the replies - what benefit is there now for being a member??

I agree and have let my HOG membership expire. I do not ride with a local chapter and have no need to join the national chapter as I had done for the past 20 years. The ONLY benefit I see in the current National HOG structure is that it is a requirement for joining a local chapter and if it is a good one then it makes sense to me.

In the past the Fly-N-Ride was the major benefit for me having a HOG membership and through the years we took some amazing trips that way. Once to Seattle, Victoria BC, Whistler, through eastern BC and down into Eastern WA state back to the coast then boarded the ferry to Victoria Island and then back to Seattle.

We also did a Fly-N-Ride from Frankfurt Germany, to Barcelona Spain, along the French Riviera into Italy and then up through the Alps (Italian and Swiss) then through Switzerland to Bavaria and back to Frankfurt.

Those times were priceless and I would never have dropped the HOG membership if this perk was still in place.

I keep mine for two reasons:
I like the magazine (now digital)
It offers me discounts on rentals

I believe the 10% discount mentioned here was a dealer perk option. Some did it-some didn't
My dealer network has the MVP program and I get 15% of everything except bikes and labor

I'm a MVP member and HOG member also. The MVP program is a great program.

As a HOG member, there are some things on the members only website that are very nice and handy to have.

Our local dealer gives us 20% off parts and clothing but he does this by giving us the discount back in points which can be used to buy other stuff. Seems fair but I think this should be standard for all hog members at all official dealers.

Used to get 10%, now its gone. They now have a points program similar to others called VIB. Very important biker. Points earned on regularly priced stuff.

My dealer in Macomb Michigan did the same thing. I ordered the Harley Davidson Visa card and order parts from Surdyke online. Save 20% and free shipping over $100. Plus I get money back from my Harley Davidson purchases from the Visa. It was better when the dealer discounted on the spot . I would often buy additional items with the money saved. I know these programs don't inspire spending!
