Hey guys, I have visited this forum quite a few times as a result of being directed here by searches... so I thought I'd finally join in case I could be of assistance to anyone in need or whatever!
I am Andrew Stanford from Cincinnati, OH. I own and operate a small custom shop, appointment only type garage, as I am trying my best to retire!
I have been riding and working on/building bikes since I was 12, and bought my first HD in 1980, fresh out of High School. After years of Sportys, Shovels and Evos, I veered away from HD, fed up with the MoCo's lack of advancement and the entire Harley scene... (Rode with clubs, started a family and just got away from it for years) but now the kiddo is grown, the wife is long gone, and I thought after a few years of owning Wings and Beemers of all kinds, I'd venture back into where my roots and heart had always been... Harley...
(So glad I did, feels like coming home!)
I have always been a "Bagger" guy, and I've owned FLH Shovels, and Evo baggers.... so I thought I'd pick up a totaled Ultra Classic, strip it down to a "Street Glide" and try my hand at the, new to THIS area, world of "Performance Baggers"
This Ultra was my first Twin Cam, and I had always loved the look of Street Glide Specials, so I figured I'd build my own, instead of dropping $35-45k on what I wanted, and hopefully end up with something that looked good, but had actual power and handling... lol. (no offense to ANYONE, but 70hp and 85 ft lbs is for 350 pound bikes...LMAO)
SO, to make a long story short, the journey of the last year was to create something interesting, powerful and a bike that would actually handle the corners and still be something I could tour on, since that is my true passion.... MILES AND MILES!
Here are some pics of where I am now. I have it pretty much where I want it, and am pretty happy... almost ready to tear it back down and send out the tins for paint (Fat Daddy Tadpole is my painter) Some of the build is in my sig, but the 500 character limit is too restrictive, so I'll post a reply with a full build list if anyone has any interest.
ANYWAY! lol... here you go... be easy on me, I am an old fart and just learning this transition from Geezer Glide to Performance Bagger!! (and the Dyna you see in the pics is my sons, he too has been bit by the Harley bug, since he pretty much was conceived at a bike run, and took his first steps trying to get to one of my old FLH's...
